The students were joined by the Zoo’s Marketing Director, Caroline Sanger-Davies, as part of their Professional Marketing module. Caroline, who graduated from the University of Chester with an MBA in 2017, shared her professional insight into the marketing industry.

Caroline offered the students top tips for creating marketing briefs and pitching to help them in their future careers, inspiring the students with her career path to become a Marketing Director.

Caroline said: “I have really enjoyed sharing my story and marketing tips with the enthusiastic and talented marketing students here. I was impressed by both their interest and the quality of their questions.”

One final year student said: “Caroline provided real insight into how large organisations, like Chester Zoo, undertake marketing. Her helpful tips on the whole process of a pitching highlighted how important it is for agencies to understand their client.

Julie Marshall, Senior Lecturer in Marketing, said: "Our final year marketing students were intrigued to hear how Caroline gained valuable experience across a range of interesting marketing roles and how she built up her professional qualifications during her career. We are incredibly grateful to Caroline for taking time out of her busy schedule to help in developing the professional marketing skills of our final year students."

The Professional Marketing module was specifically developed with input from marketing industry professionals to equip students with the skills to succeed in graduate level marketing roles.

Jane Martin, Programme Leader for the Marketing Management degree, said: “Having such high profile marketers from industry to share their expertise is vital for the professional students on our industry relevant degree, which is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the leading professional body for Marketing.”
