Christmas in Chester is always a magical time. The nights start drawing in and it’s time for our students to hand in their assignments and celebrate with their friends and family. Once the Christmas lights have been switched on it signals the countdown to Christmas.

The Christmas Market is always very popular, it’s great for picking up quirky gifts and having a festive drink and bite to eat.

Departments on campus also got into the festive spirit. There was even a rather spectacular light switch on!

Staff and students were encouraged to tap into their artistic side at winter workshops, there was the opportunity to learn how to make festive decorations, stocking fillers and reindeer food – it’s vital to make sure the reindeer are fuelled up for a busy night of deliveries!

It's the #UoCWinterWorkshops tomorrow! Here's a glimpse of some of the crafts that you could learn to make! ----⭐️⠀ ⠀ From festive decorations, to Christmas cards, and even stocking-filler gifts! The workshops will be drop-in all day, and for those new to knitting and crocheting, demonstrations will take place at 12pm, 1pm and 2pm. You can stay for as long or as little as you like and take part in as many crafts as takes your fancy.⠀ ⠀ Hand-crafted gifts are unique, personal, and fun to make! The Winter Workshops will give visitors crafting skills that can be put into practice again and again in the future! The event is supported by the University of Chester Sustainability Unit, Student Futures Wellbeing Team and H4All, with an emphasis on making and creating using sustainable materials and using craft and creativity as a tool for improving wellbeing.⠀ ⠀ There will be a Bake Sale at the event, and all of the money raised, will be donated to Share Shop, through the library's Caring Cups campaign. ⠀ ⠀ The Winter Workshops will take place on Friday, November 23, from 12pm to 3pm, in the University’s Small Hall on the Parkgate Road Campus. Attendance is free, materials are provided and all are welcome to come along!⠀ ⠀ #uochester #uocvolunteering #greenchester #wellbeing #crafting #christmascrafts #workshops #learnsomethingnew #handmade #sustainable #christmas #bakesale #charitybakesale #csyou

There were festive charity bake sales and Christmas cacti available to purchase to help those less fortunate.

As you can see, there’s always lots going on over the festive season both on campus and in the city centre! All that's left for us to say is that wish hope you have a very Merry Christmas with family and friends, and we hope to see many of you at an Experience Day in the New Year!
