The final year students have used their creative skills, flexibility and expertise to make sure their show still ‘blooms’ despite the lockdown.

Using state of the art technology, their aptly entitled ‘Bloom’ exhibition will be showcased at the CASC online gallery on Friday, June 12 at 6pm.

Members of the public will be able to visit the virtual gallery space here: https://www.cascgallery.co.uk/degreeshow and view the exhibition from the comfort of their own home.

Join the Facebook Live Stream, watch the virtual tour of the full exhibition on the CASC Gallery website, navigate yourself around the virtual gallery at your own pace, by downloading the 3600 SimLab viewer, or create your own avatar in Second Life and be transported to CASC’s very own Island with a replica of CASC’s city centre gallery, along with a number of other virtual exhibition spaces. Here you can tour the exhibition while listening to live music and have the opportunity to meet the students. Whichever way you want to view the work, you will find the links and instructions on how to join at http://www.cascgallery.co.uk

Associate Professor Bernadine Murray, Head of Art and Design at the University of Chester, said: "The year 2020 has proved to be exceptional for all of us, providing many challenges. We are excited to be able to present to the public a number of platforms to explore and enjoy the fantastic and diverse work of our third-year students - and the variety that comes from our seven degree courses in Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing and Communication, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Photography and Product Design.

“This celebration of the culmination of their studies showcases the work of a unique group of students who have refused to let a devastating situation deter them from their creative endeavours and from completing their degree.”

Bernadine added: “In spite of the lockdown, our students have overcome restrictions on space, materials, specialist equipment and, in some cases, access to the people and places that had been the subject of their work. Using such a challenge as a creative opportunity is to their credit – and will stand them in good stead in their future careers. We are incredibly proud of what they have all achieved."
