The group examined all aspects of revenue management and performance measurements at the five star The Lowry Hotel in Manchester.

Jacqueline Hughes-Lundy, Senior Lecturer in the Experience Economy at Chester Business School, said: “Working in partnership with the region’s leading hotels and restaurants enhances our students’ experience and helps them understand how the theory learnt is put into practice.

“We are so fortunate to have industry professionals who are willing to invest their time and share their knowledge with our students on these types of study days.”

The day was led by Sales Manager at The Lowry Hotel, Tom Ansbro. He said: “Hosting the University of Chester here at The Lowry Hotel was a pleasure. I believe it is key for students to see hands on how theory can be put into practice at hotel level; allowing them to see how we measure success at a leading property in the city will not only improve their knowledge and understanding but also give them a competitive advantage when looking to build a career in the industry.

“From a personal point of view, imparting the knowledge I have learned throughout my career was a pleasure, and whilst researching I also learned a lot. I only wish I could go back and tell myself how vital a degree in hospitality could be, instead of studying accountancy!”

Maria Psarakis, second year Hospitality Management student, said: “The visit was really valuable in gaining insights into the industry at Management level and a great networking opportunity.”
