Welcome Week is always an amazing time for us. Across our Chester, Warrington and Shrewsbury sites we have a huge selection of events, fairs, and social activities – and there really is something for everyone.
During the week, we help you understand your course, get to know Chester city, and, most importantly give you plenty of opportunities to meet new people and have a load of fun!
‘Move in Sunday!’
Student volunteers, otherwise known as the Red Ts, are on hand during Move in Sunday to help new students settle into their accommodation and home for the next few years.
There was also the chance to attend a Welcome Talk for Residential Students (Freebies included!)

Start the week with a splash of colour
Monday brought us an Escape Room, Board Games, and a Colour Run!
We want to make settling in as easy as possible which is why we pack Welcome Week with activities such as Walking Tours to our campuses, Academic Departmental activities…
Activities to help you stay healthy…
As well as assigning times to meet your Personal Academic Tutor (PAT), peer mentors, and talks on Disability and Inclusion, how to manage your weekly food shop, and Stress Buster sessions.
Not to mention the Freshers Fair, full of businesses, things to do around Chester and (yes!) more freebies…
Getting to know your degree
Amongst all the fun, Welcome Week gives you an opportunity to get stuck into your degree and learn a little more about what it’s like to study with us.
Like making sure everything is safe within a lab environment
Or getting stuck into your reading
Or starting a creative project
Getting involved outside your studies
There is a range of Sports and Societies with which you can get involved as a student at Chester.

Our Activities Fair showcased all the sports and societies, sharing information about taster sessions, and how you can get involved.
Plus – a bit random but there was a pony called Top Gun!
The return of students and Campus Cat
Now that you’ve been welcomed to campus by the University, make sure to look out for our Campus Cat, the unofficial mascot of the University of Chester.
Attracted back to campus now that our students have returned, we’re seeing more and more Millie photos.
Millie is well-known for getting cosy on campus, seeking attention from our staff and students, and helping out around the University. Say hi if you see her! (She’ll love it).
Share your photos with us by tagging @uochester and #MyChesterStory. We’ll share our favourites on social media and in blogs like this one!
