The Accounting and Finance degree at Chester focuses on the practical application of accounting and finance theory. Our students get involved in a range of projects, placements and events that will equip them for a wealth of different career possibilities.
Daniel’s Story
In this video, current student Daniel shares what inspired him to study Accounting and Finance at our Queen’s Park Campus; what aspects of the course he is most enjoying so far; and his aspirations for the future.
Students’ and Graduates’ Success
It’s been a busy and successful year for the Accounting and Finance programme. Here are a few of the highlights:
- A host of speakers from industry have been in to talk to our students, including representatives from KPMG, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Handelsbanken, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). These speakers provide an excellent opportunity for students to network but also provide a really useful insight into the accounting and finance world today, and the graduate skills that employers are looking for.
- Many of our second year students have fought off fierce competition to secure excellent placements for their year in industry. We have students, for example, going to Volkswagen, Airbus, and Innospec. We also have students going abroad for their third year to study in America, Germany and one student is going to Australia to work.
- We like to keep in touch with our graduates and we have been so pleased to hear again this year of the success of so many as they launch and develop their careers. Success stories include jobs at organisations such as PWC, the Ministry of Defence and Morrison’s, to name but a few.
- On a final note, one member of the Accounting and Finance team has just raised nearly £2,500 for NSPCC by running the London Marathon on the hottest day since it started. An amazing achievement!
