A business dream come true all started on the Chester MBA for Pop Specs founders Lina and Dan.

The pair were delighted to return to the Business School to pass on their legacy of success to first years who are just starting out on their journey of enterprise.

Entrepreneurs’ insights are delivered to the students on the Essentials of Entrepreneurship module each week and help connect guest speakers from a wide range of organisations to offer first-hand insights with students.

Dan Barnes and Lina Tejoprayitno shared their journey of success, seeing the company they founded in 2019 become a rapidly growing and ‘disruptive’ alternative to modern eyewear with funky and fun spectacles which are finished within 20 minutes.

They shared how they aim to offer exceptional customer service and styling and their plans to expand from their current base in the Trafford Centre, to other sites.

They have also recently won the Graham Shapiro Innovation Enterprise Award.

Dan and Lina met during their MBA (Master’s of Business Administration) programme at the University of Chester, Dan with a specialism in eyecare and Lina with a specialism in finance. They said:

"It was an absolute pleasure to share our experience with the students. They were very engaging and eager to learn. We hope we inspire them so they can do the same for others."

Fran Shollo, Module Leader said: "As a fan of Pop Specs, I was delighted to host Dan and Lina along with my wonderful colleagues on the module. Impacting, leaving a legacy behind, and encouraging our young entrepreneurs to be passionate and enthusiastic about what they love was the highlight of this session. I’m very grateful to them both, and I am very proud for my dear friends."
