Our International Tourism Management degree at Chester gives students a unique opportunity to apply for an internship with the world-famous cruise company Royal Caribbean International.

It has seen Chester students on board in all areas of the business over the past three years, and even being offered employment with the company when they graduate.

This year, five students have been selected to be the Royal Caribbean interns of 2018: Sean Kelly, Emma Twist, Cassie Galbraith, Joanna Crosby and Ellen Golding.

The exclusive partnership has earned the University a place on the shortlist for an Employer Engagement award in this year’s Educate North Awards, which celebrate excellence in the 33 universities in the North of England.

Tourism Students Visit the Best Place to Live in the UK

Studying one of our Tourism courses at the University of Chester will not only teach you about the benefits of tourism to our economy and society, but will also give you a hands-on exploration of how places manage and benefit from tourists, destination planning and sustainable tourism.

This is just what our first years have been doing on a recent visit to York, just voted top in The Sunday Times ‘Best Places to Live 2018’ list. Here, they were able to draw parallels with our own historic Roman walled city of Chester, which has also recently been voted as a top place to live in The Sunday Times list, coming second only to York.

Their three-day tour of Yorkshire also took them to Hull, the 2017 Capital of Culture, and the traditional seaside town of Scarborough to view first-hand the investment and regeneration taking place to boost the region’s tourism. In Scarborough, they heard from Simon Featherstone from the Council’s Regeneration Department and former tourism student Hannah Allen, who graduated with a first class Honours degree in 2016. Hannah, who works for Scarborough Spa, was delighted to share with students the career possibilities for the course.
