Announced today, Thursday, September 28 – and with results valid for the next four years – the institution has been praised for its work in relation to student experience and student outcomes.
After analysing a range of data and evidence submitted by the University, the TEF panel noted many examples of very high-quality practice, and highlighted several features of outstanding quality, including:
- Customising learning resources to match the diverse student body and their subject-specific needs;
- Robust support to students from underrepresented backgrounds to help them flourish in highly skilled careers
- The introduction of a new Academic Integrity Policy.
The TEF is a national scheme run by the Office for Students (OfS) that aims to encourage HE providers to improve and deliver excellence in the areas that students care about the most: teaching, learning and achieving positive outcomes from their studies.
Professor Helen O’Sullivan, Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, at the University which has campuses across Chester, Warrington, and Shrewsbury, said: “We are delighted to have maintained our Silver status in the Teaching Excellence Framework.
“This reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring students of all abilities, and from all backgrounds, succeed and reach their full potential. We look forward to continuing to develop consistent teaching excellence in all areas to ensure the very best futures for our students and graduates.”
Ellie Smith, President of Chester Students’ Union, added: "We are really pleased that the University has maintained its Silver status in the TEF Award. We recognise the dedication that the University has towards improving the student experience and taking the student voice on board, and it’s great to see this as they are key priorities for us in the Students’ Union."
