There’s always lots to see and do in Chester, but it’s definitely worth taking advantage of the nice weather to get out and explore. From browsing the stylish shops to strolling along the River Dee, Chester has it all.

Exploring Chester doesn’t mean having to spend lots of money either; there are lots of things to do which don’t cost a penny. We love walking along the River Dee, as it’s very peaceful and relaxing.

Although we do sometimes find an ice cream is too tempting to resist!

Take a stroll around the city walls, where you’ll get to see sights such as the Roman amphitheatre, 14th century water tower and Chester racecourse. If the races are on, the city walls make a great vantage point to see the action. If you’d like to find out more about Chester’s Roman heritage then why not stop off at the Grosvenor Museum? It’s free entry as well, so great when on a student budget.

Make sure you get a photo with the Eastgate clock, it doesn’t earn its reputation as one of the world's most photographed clocks for nothing!

Do some window shopping and take in the famous Chester rows: shops upon shops which are unique to the city.

Or pretty streets like Godstall Lane, home to a range of independent shops and bars.

Don’t forget to stop by Chester Town Hall and the stunning Chester Cathedral – home to our graduation ceremonies.

When you’re tired of exploring, why not take a picnic and sit in Grosvenor Park or the meadows.
