Valentine’s Day can mean many different things to different people: whether it is curling up on the couch with a cheesy rom com with your partner, having a cry or celebration about single life with your friends, or whether it is just another day that means an excuse to eat a few choccies, Valentine’s Day is the one day of the year where we can sing the guilty pleasures without being judged: ‘What the world needs now is love, sweet love!’. So we took some time to ask our students what they love about Chester.

Amiee Morgan: “I love Chester because it is a safe and welcoming city. There is lots to do in terms of entertainment and the University offers lots of opportunities to help out the community and better the city - for example, last Christmas the Orchestral Society organised a charity concert which raised lots of money"

Annalyse Corlyon-Goudeau: “I love Chester because it’s a place that can be buzzing but also tranquil.  As someone from a big city, it's  sometimes easy to forget to stop and appreciate what is right in front of  you. Chester is great, especially by the Eastgate Clock or by the River Dee, because it reminds me to stop, check yourself, take a few deep breaths and start again.”

Molly Sawyer: “I love Chester because the city is gorgeous and just a lovely atmosphere, it really does feel like home! Also it is super safe and the people here are really friendly.”

Holly Royle: "Chester is a fantastic city. I love that the history of the city remains present through the infrastructure and buildings. Where else can you wander from a Roman Amphitheatre to Victorian gardens and then back into the heart of the bustling city? I find the Chester has a great sense of community and I thoroughly enjoy spending my time here - it is a second home to me."

Roberta Mancini: “During my time in Chester I started appreciating all the different places. Different because I am from Italy and Chester is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen.

I have seen beautiful sunsets and sunrises. I have found great friends and have the best memories. During my time I collected loads of picture of everything: sunsets, sunrises, river Dee and the Eastgate clock.

I collected them because, even if one day I will leave Chester, Chester will never leave me. I will leave part of my heart here. The early mornings, the late nights and the student life, including the great friends I have made.

This is why I love Chester: because it’s a magnificent place with loads of opportunities, and if I could go back, I would choose Chester again and again.”

Chester really is pretty as a picture - what's not to love?!
