Most of our students’ journeys start in September, whether they’re here for the first time settling into their new home, or back to Chester to continue their studies.

We are well-known for our friendly welcome at Chester. There’s always a lot going on during the first week, from induction activities to live music and events. The Freshers’ Fair is always very popular with lots of freebies to take away. So, whether students are enjoying Welcome Week pizza evening…

Or enjoying the nightlife…

There’s something at Chester for everyone.

With over 100 Sports and Societies available in Chester from Football to Quidditch, Disney Society to Chester Student Dog Walkers society, there are plenty of opportunities to meet like-minded people.

Our Societies encourage anyone to join, regardless of whether they’re an expert or novice. Most societies offer taster sessions so students can give it a go without making the commitment.

Before we knew it, the first month at university had passed and we were into Autumn.

Our students were hard at work.

But never too busy to stop and take in the view.

November is a really exciting time at the University, when we celebrate our students’ hard work and successes at Graduation.

And what more of a beautiful environment could you have for Graduation than the Chester Cathedral?

The annual Careers Fest is an opportunity for students to network with businesses. Numerous organisations come together to exhibit their graduate opportunities, sandwich placements and part-time jobs.

Our Events students got involved and helped organise the Christmas light switch-on in the city centre.

Chester is a beautiful city throughout the year, but who doesn’t love a city in Christmas lights?

Joining us back after the break, we had a few cold January days.

Our Warrington campus also took home the win for Chester against Wrexham Glyndwr, 5-4 overall. A massive congratulations to all sports teams!

The majority of our students have the opportunity to undertake a Work Based Learning module in their second year. This is a great opportunity to gain invaluable experience, having secured placements with providers across the UK.

TEDxUoChester 2019 explored what our future would look like with a diverse range of speakers provoking thought and inspiring students through fascinating talks and performances.

And before you know it, it’s dissertation submission time, final art shows, performances, and exams.

In June, we hosted the Chester Difference Award celebration evening, celebrating our students who develop skills and experiences through taking on volunteering and other extracurricular actives.

It’s been a busy year, but there’s always time for some celebratory cake.
