Exton Park, Chester

Exton Park has it all - the Students’ Union, catering outlets, library, fitness facilities, sports and societies, and a bar. To top it off, you’re only a ten-minute walk from Chester city centre, voted as one of the best student cities in the UK (StudentCrowd 2022), and right in the middle of the Garden Quarter of Chester - a bustling student area, home to friendly pubs, cafés and shops. The site also has lots of green space and beautifully kept gardens, perfect for enjoying warmer weather.

Exton Park is also where you can find many of the University’s central support services, including our Wellbeing and Mental Health team, the Careers team, Disability support, the University Chapel, Volunteering and Mentoring, Work Based Learning and Study Abroad.

Centrally located on our Exton Park site, our recently refurbished and modernised Seaborne Library is the perfect study space. It hosts an extensive selection of books, e-books and e-journals, as well as a variety of suites and spaces to support collaborative online and independent study, specialist media suites, sensory space, 24-hour access computer labs, and The Hub; a comfortable two-floor study zone, suitable for independent and group study that also hosts exhibitions. You can also borrow a laptop from the two LapSafes with a tap of your student card at any time, night or day.  

If you need any help in the library, our knowledgeable subject-specific librarians are on hand to assist. Additional support is also available through our Assistive Technologist and Disability Support Officers.

Whether it’s grabbing a snack or sitting down for a meal, you won’t be short on places to eat. Take your pick from The Dining Room, our market-style restaurant with a wide range of world cuisines, ‘Stacked’, our Subway-style sandwich shop, and Binks 'Bake and Bite', your ultimate grab-and-go destination on campus. Starbucks is also available across all of our catering outlets.

Chester Students’ Union (CSU) offers a great selection of on-campus entertainment and activities designed to enhance your university experience.

There’s an impressive choice of indoor and outdoor sports and leisure facilities on campus, which are used for both competitive and recreational sports. Our facilities include a swimming pool, gym, squash and tennis courts, running track, a floodlit 3G multi-use pitch and floodlit astroturf pitch and a fully equipped sports hall.

Most of our accommodation is located on or near Exton Park, with a range of amenities in easy reach. The campus has its own off licence mini supermarket, stocking a range of products from food to University merchandise, as well as a print unit, launderette and faith spaces.
