Research Interests
I’ve always been interested in the mechanics of sprint running and the key determinants of performance in sprinting, so this is I what I researched during my undergraduate and postgraduate studies. For my PhD I delved deeper into footwear biomechanics and worked with Puma footwear, researching the design of their sprint spikes and the effect of the shoe stiffness on foot mechanics.More recently, with the PhD students I currently supervise we’ve been looking at injury and clinical biomechanics: knee biomechanics in side-cutting; and a Bionic leg for patients with Stroke.
Latest / Proudest Achievement
Trekking to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar (5645m) in 2017 was pretty cool! Oh and beating Rachel Atherton (5 times Downhill world camp!) downhill on my mountain bike was fun too!
