The National Student Survey (NSS) and remaining University of Chester 2022 student experience surveys are now closed

We’re keen to make sure our students have the best possible experience while studying with us. To do this, we use the feedback you give us through these surveys to know what you think works well and what we could do better.

The National Student Survey (NSS) is a nation-wide survey of mainly undergraduate students entering their final year of study. More details can be found at

Separate to the NSS, each year we run various surveys tailored to students at different stages of their University experience. Here are the different surveys and who they are mainly aimed at:

  • UK Engagement Survey (UKES) - All undergraduate students studying at University of Chester not completing the NSS.
  • Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) - Taught Postgraduate students studying a course mainly at Level 7.
  • Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) - Research Postgraduate students studying a research course mainly at Level 8 (includes MRes students).

The surveys are your chance to tell us about your experience as a student at University of Chester, and your feedback is really important - the more students that take part the better we can make the experience at University of Chester.

  • First Year Experience Survey (FYES) - Previously run survey for undergraduate students in their first year of study at University of Chester (students complete the UKES in 2022).
  • Undergraduate Experience Survey (UGES) - A survey run in 2020 for undergraduate students not in their first or final year of study at University of Chester (students complete the UKES in 2022).

Thank you for taking the opportunity to get involved in the 2022 surveys - your feedback helps us make changes that can improve your university experience and that of students like you. Thanks again for using your voice!
