Riverside Campus, Chester

The Riverside Campus provides specialist teaching facilities for most students in the Chester-based Faculties of Education and Children’s Services, and Health and Social Care

The University took ownership of the former County Hall in Chester in 2010 and transformed it into the Riverside Campus building, which provides exceptionally high quality and state-of-the-art facilities for its two resident faculties. This iconic building in the centre of Chester is just a 20-minute walk from the main Chester Campus.

Riverside Campus houses the Library collections for Education and Children’s Services and Health and Social Care students along with several IT laboratories for 'open access' and teaching use. All of the teaching spaces are equipped with high-grade audiovisual technology and provide an excellent learning experience.

In addition, Riverside Campus provides a 192-seat lecture theatre, containing raked seating and a widescreen capable of showing Blu-ray and HD films.

Riverside’s café and coffee shop serves hot and cold drinks, snacks and delicious meals. Meanwhile, the Student Space provides social, group work and discussion space for students, with hot and cold drinks vending machines and snack machines available, and students are able to eat their own food here.

Marriss House

Marriss House (Birkenhead)

Based in Birkenhead, Marriss House will provide the space and technology to equip student nurses to practice clinical skills ahead of a range of hospital and community based practice experiences.

The facilities within this new Health and Social Care learning environment include:

  • A fully-equipped skills laboratory resembling a hi-tech hospital ward
  • Virtual reality equipment
  • Classrooms of various sizes, as well as smaller rooms for group work
  • A dedicated Health and Social Care library.

Leighton Site (Crewe)

As a student you would be based in the Faculty of Health and Social Care, located within the hospital site of Leighton, putting you right at the heart of this busy and rewarding profession. Faculty staff are based here to specifically support you throughout your programme of education. We also have a dedicated library on site, as well as classrooms, a lecture theatre, clinical skills lab and student common room.
