Our Human Nutrition course is accredited by the Association for Nutrition (AfN). Professional registration with the AfN is rapidly gaining recognition by key employers. Our graduates can register with the AfN as Associate Nutritionists. Highly trained professionals in nutrition are increasingly needed to provide expert advice on the nutrition, safety and health benefits of food for individuals, the community and the food industry.

The Department of Clinical Sciences at Chester has enjoyed an excellent reputation in nutrition, and is one of the largest providers of nutrition-related courses in the UK. One feature of this course is the seminar series. Our seminars are designed to improve all aspects of communication skills, encourage critical reflection, and address the competencies needed to become a professional accredited nutritionist with the AfN. Opportunities to enhance your employability skills are embedded throughout the course and are delivered by specialist tutors.

The course provides a unique mix of biological, social and nutrition-based knowledge and skills, designed to engage you in the context of food and culture, diet and nutrition.

Parkgate Road Campus, Chester

Our historic Parkgate Road Campus in Chester has offered a wide range of courses since opening in 1839. It’s situated only a short walk from the lively city centre, and provides a friendly, secure and supportive environment in which to live and study.

Our on-campus facilities include a Learning Resource Centre, modern lecture theatres, open-access computer facilities, state-of-the-art science/skills/language laboratories, a range of catering outlets, the £2 million Chester Students’ Union centre and CSU bar/club, bookshop, chapel and faith space, cashpoint and launderette.

Because university life is not just about getting a degree, social and leisure activities are an important and long-established part of life at our Chester sites. On-campus sports facilities include a fully equipped sports hall, gym, swimming pool, squash and tennis courts, sprint track, floodlit 3G multi-use pitch and floodlit astroturf pitch.

Most of our student accommodation is also on or near campus. The campus also boasts an abundance of green space, and beautifully kept gardens, which provide you with an exciting environment in which to live and study.
