Who Can Enter?

The competition is open to year 13 A level students (any subjects).


December 6th 2019 4pm (late submissions will not be accepted).



To Enter

Entries can be an essay (max 1000 words), a piece of creative writing, an art project with an explanation, a blog, vlog, podcast, news report, video or song, responding to any of the following stimulus questions:

• What are the most pressing questions facing humanity today?

• Do religions help or hinder social justice?

• Is religion dying out? Does it matter?

• What is ‘a good life’?

If you have other ideas, feel free to develop your own, but make sure you explain your reasons for your decisions. In judging your submission, we look for the quality of your argument, your critical thinking and your powers of persuasion, as well as your knowledge. You may want to use academic books, and/or other sources, to help formulate your ideas, though this is not compulsory. Please include a list with your submission. We welcome individual and collaborative submissions. (If a collaborative entry wins, the prize money is shared).

Please send your submission to If you need to post your submission, please email first to arrange postage. In your covering email please tell us your full name, the name and address of your school or college, and which A levels you are studying. Please also confirm that you are a year 13 (2nd year 6th) student and supply the name of a teacher/lecturer who knows you are entering.
