Chester is an exciting place to study Theology and Religious Studies. With a team of subject-specialists teaching and researching across Religious Studies, Christian Theology, Philosophy, Ethics and Biblical Studies, we offer courses that draw on our rich expertise. You will engage with contemporary issues and ask questions of sacred texts and traditions.
Learning Site
Our courses are delivered on-site and via distance learning. We are based at Exton Park, Chester, in our own building, which houses a computer room, kitchen, social and study space, and three purpose-built modern lecture rooms. You will also benefit from modern learning amenities, fitness facilities and social and catering hubs.
Research Active Staff
The Department of Theology and Religious Studies is a community of scholars addressing cutting-edge questions concerning theology and the nature and place of religions in the world from a wide range of historical, cultural, theological and philosophical perspectives. We are dedicated to excellence, both in our student-centred teaching and in our highly-rated research. We are in the top 10 in the UK for world-leading and internationally excellent research in the recent Research Excellence Framework 2021.
