We notice with gratitude how frequently our first-year students credit their own passion for the subject to an inspirational RE teacher! As a staff-team of subject specialists, we’re keen to share our expertise and resources with schools. Many of our students, too, seek to build their own relationships with schools as they explore the question of whether a career in teaching could be for them.

We value the links with schools we’ve developed through our second-year module in Religious Education, which comprises an opportunity for students to observe in an RE department for three weeks. Through the generosity and hospitality of local RE teachers and departments, dozens of students on this module have been inspired to go on to train as RE teachers. We work closely with the National Association of Teacher of Religious Education (NATRE) to support the endeavour to ensure that highly skilled and motivated undergraduates enter Initial Teacher Training.

Our department offers a number of formal ways for students and teachers to share in our expertise and resources. Click on the links below to find out more about what we offer, or alternatively, get in touch with Dr Wendy Dossett w.dossett@chester.ac.uk to let us know how we can help.
