Course overview

Adding up to a top UK professionally accredited degree, delivered by accounting specialists.

Our specialised degree aims to improve employability by concentrating on the practical application of accounting and finance theory. The content is designed to allow you to gain major exemptions from the examinations of the key professional accounting bodies in the UK (ICAEW/CIMA/ACCA/CIPFA) in order to enhance your employability and potentially reduce the time to full qualification as an accountant.

Studying a course full-time traditionally takes three years to complete, unless your course has the option of a sandwich year placement, in which case you could gain a year’s professional work experience in a company or organisation.

The prestigious new Queen's Park Campus is situated only a very short walk away from the lively city centre, and provides a friendly, secure and supportive environment in which to study. The site provides specialist teaching facilities for students of University of Chester Business School in the Faculty of Business and Management.

Formerly a bank and historic army Western Command headquarters during the Second World War, Churchill and Bridge House is a fitting site for Chester Business School students, training to be the strategic decision makers and managers of the future. Churchill and Bridge House was purchased by the University of Chester in March 2015 and features state-of-the-art learning facilities, including student-friendly learning zones, a dedicated business library, open-access computer suites containing the latest IT equipment, and quiet areas for study in learning pods and student development rooms containing snug-style seating areas.

With luxurious fittings and historic features, Queen's Park Campus provides a prestigious environment for study which mirrors the corporate environment. Acting as a corporate hub, Chester Business School’s many partners from the public and private sectors are regularly welcomed to the site for business events.

Fabulous on-site catering facilities include Montgomery's, a Starbucks ‘grab-and-go’ cafeteria and eat-your-own-food area. For dining in style, the De Gaulle Brasserie is situated on the top-floor with picturesque views over the River Dee.

There are areas for students to socialise outside the building as well, with access to riverside walks and the Meadows, as well as Queen's Park Campus's own green expanse of formal gardens and grounds leading down to the river.

Queen's Park Campus is one of the closest of our Chester sites to the historic city centre – only a short 5-10 minute walk away. If you are studying at Queen's Park Campus, you will also be able to easily reach the student accommodation and the facilities of Parkgate Road Campus, Chester, as they are only a short bus ride or walk away.
