Why Study Management and Leadership or Business with us?

The University of Chester is very pleased to be working with the Royal Air Force and partner Higher Education institutions in designing and delivering two Foundation Degrees.

The two negotiated pathways are:

  • Foundation Degree in Business (Work Based and Integrative Studies)
  • Foundation Degree in Leadership and Management (Work Based and Integrative Studies)

These are employer-led higher education awards delivered at Levels 4 and 5. Learners will then have the opportunity to extend their studies to Level 6 to gain an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree.

The Foundation Degree programme will suit learners who:

  • Wish to maximise rewards for prior learning
  • Wish to receive academic credit for their work based learning
  • Wish to improve their knowledge base and skills set through taking taught modules where relevant
  • Are happy learning with a mix of online support and periodic face-to-face input
  • Are happy to plan their own learning pathway - with support from Chester tutors
  • Are interested in building a range of optional topics into their pathway such as:- Conflict Transformation, Negotiation Skills, Stress Management and Mentoring.

The RAF Foundation Degrees are occupationally-based pathways within the University's ground-breaking Work Based and Integrative Studies (WBIS) framework. Put simply, this is a flexible framework that allows the University to give academic reward for work-based and work-related learning.
