The Sarah Parker Remond House is the home to the majority of academic delivery and teaching provision in Warrington. Since 2022, Remond House is our new site for teaching a number of our Health and Social Care, Policing and Education courses in Warrington, and it includes brand new, high-quality, subject-specific facilities to ensure you get the best possible practical experience while studying with us. Remond House also provides an info point that acts as a hub for a number of student services such as student support, Registry Services and Finance.
The University named its new building after Sarah Parker Remond (1826-1894), a prominent anti-slavery and women’s rights campaigner from America, who gave a series of lectures in Warrington. Following the lecture series she spoke of the reception and sympathy she had found in Warrington. Remond’s speeches and writings also speak of her wider commitments to education, human rights and women’s suffrage and her later career as a doctor enabled her to put these into action.
By naming the building after Remond, the University signals a continuing link with Warrington and the local community, whilst supporting and promoting the University’s mission, vision and foundational values, which have such resonance today.
