The University of Chester has a long tradition of educating and training people to work with those who have experienced adverse and traumatic life conditions and events. Our Psychological Trauma PGCert and Clinical Counselling MA acknowledge that a growing number of modern professionals find themselves working with traumatised individuals and populations, and self-care and professional quality of life and well-being are considered throughout the courses. Influenced by trauma-informed approaches in teaching, our learning programmes build on experiential, reflexive, and peer learning, as well as providing the necessary academic and evidence-based input you’ll need to develop and refine your expertise.

Psychological trauma and has been a growing area of interest across disciplines and roles for many years, and our one-year, online, level 7 degree is an accessible course that will provide the up-to-date knowledge and criticality required to navigate the trauma landscape. Our Clinical Counselling course will cover the theory, practice, and ethics of counselling, whilst focusing on your professional and personal development.

If you are interested in studying with us, please join us for our online information event where you can find out more. For more information please contact the programme leaders Dr Marie Chollier (PGCert) or Cemil Egeli (MA).
