Dr, Chandrika Devarakonda

Chandrika Devarakonda is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Chester, UK. She teaches on a wide range of modules On undergraduate and post graduate programmes. She has successfully supported several doctoral studies and is an experienced and active researcher Chandrika is a co - chair of the Research Development Community (RDC) of Social Justice, Equity AND Diversity at Association of teacher Education in Europe. Chandrika has been invited to give key note speeches by several organisations such Life long learning, Association of Colleges (AOC), Equaliteach, Belfast Childcare partnership, Leicester Early years in the UK and universities in USA, Spain, Netherlands and India. She has been invited to give talks at Autonomous University of Barcelona, Millersville University, HU institute of Applied Sciences, keynote speeches at Amity University, Pondicherry University in India, Konstanz University, Germany, Pearson. I have supervised a Commonwealth Scholar Dr Krishna Duhan from India. Chandrika is a reviewer for different journals such as American Educational /research Association (AERA) Power and Education, Disability, CBR and inclusive development, Critical Studies in Education, American Education Research Association, UNESCO reports. British Medical Journal., European Early childhood Education Research Journal, and been involved in the scientific commmittee for European organisation. She has also led Faculty Research interest group (RIG) Early Years, Children and families group .

Chandrika has taught on a wide range of programmes at undergraduate and post - graduate level. The modules focussed on wide range of issues such as inclusion and diversity, international perspectives of early childhood, leadership and management, changing constructions of childhood. Work based learning, parent partnerships. I have collaborated with colleagues from University of North Florida, Jacksonville, Florida and Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania in USA to organise placements for their international experience in early childhood module.

Chandrika is an active researcher involved in research individually and have collaborated with colleagues from local authorities, other disciplines such as Medicine, and from other countries on a wide range of issues. Research topics related to inclusion and diversity, international perspectives of early childhood, Child Psychosocial Framework in Southern India, Perceptions of Associate teachers and NQT’s about inclusion in England, empowering parents following Covid, Professional’s Perspectives and Experiences of the Cultural and Linguistic Brokering Roles of Migrant and EAL (English as an Additional Language) Children in Schools and Settings migrant children, children's rights, experiences of international students in higher education.
