I work in the new media sector of performing arts, employing interactive software and video art. Often times my work lies along the border of video and performance art. In the past I have explored themes of Zen Buddhism, hyperreality, 'self' and 'other' and identity - personal, cultural and social.

I am originally from Northern Ireland and as such, I have a complex approach to the theme of identity as it relates to heritage, national pride and religion. My work is in some ways trying to find an answer as to where I place myself on the socio-political map. I have shown works and performed in various events in Chester, Shunt in London and the Millennium Square in Leeds.

I joined the University of Chester full time teaching in January 2011 but prior to that I had been teaching here part time alongside teaching at University of Salford, Staffordshire University and SERC in Northern Ireland.

I work across disciplines at the University as media based work straddles dance, drama and pop music, albeit in different ways. Working in this way, I have experience of and am able to teach and work with students from all disciplines.

My teaching focuses on the integration of digital technology in performance in a way that it is integral and not supplemental, thus opening up new avenues of working in the respective fields.

My past work has been focusing on identity and its creation from a cultural point of view, which then moved on to identity as an individual and how we create and perform our “self”.

Most recently I have been interested in where does the self stop and the performance begin within performance, which has led me to the study of Stand Up Comedy, both its performance and reception.
