Dr Emma Price started as a Lecturer in Criminology at the University of Chester in 2017. Her dedication to improving the student experience through inclusive teaching and learning, and developing students’ career readiness throughout their studies sits at the heart of her approach to teaching. Similarly, being a member of the Teaching and Learning Committee has included involvement in developing the department’s employability strategy, which has provoked interest in embedding career readiness throughout Levels 4, 5, and 6 of our undergraduate degrees.

Emma has a passion for innovative teaching practices to engage students in critical discussions around the role of broader social inequalities in criminality. She focuses on imbalances of power and the uneven distribution of harm throughout societies, enabling students to apply these debates to real-world examples.

Her research interests include the charitable sector's role in meeting offenders' mental health needs and the wider social impacts of charitable mental health services.
