Dr Mark Bendall

I joined the Department in 2002 after being a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Media Arts at Southampton Solent University (1998-2000).

I am currently Senior Lecturer teaching on the Politics and International Relations degree programmes.

My interests include interdisciplinary research, e.g. the relationships between media and crime; sexuality and celebrity; corporate social responsibility; and pedagogic research into the use of technology in teaching.

My other interests include yoga, pilates, film and the telling of terrible jokes.

Also, I write a blog for the Warrington Guardian.

Awards

2008: Team member of a winning research grant bid awarded by the University's Learning and Teaching Institute for pedagogic research into social networking as a mechanism for retention, enhancement and social capital facilitation for students. (£10,000)

2007: Marketing Initiative of the Year National Finalist, Times Higher Awards

1991: Runner-up, Guardian Magazine of the Year award for Cambridge Political Review

My interests include the use of social networking sites in teaching; the communications-criminology interface and corporate social responsibility.
