Dr Niel Gillard

Niel is a lecturer within the School of Law and has numerous years of experience teaching across a range of modules. He teaches on Criminal Law, Medical Law and is the module leader for Sports Law.

He first joined the School of Law as an undergraduate before graduating with an LLB in Law and is completing a socio-legal doctorate focusing on the relationship between legislation, culture and gender, and career progression in law firms. He has presented his research at various conferences.
 
Niel has experience in a variety of roles in the legal and higher education sectors. He has worked in personal injury and medical negligence and has taught on a wide range of modules here and at other institutions. He currently teaches on a range of modules and is the module leader for Sports Law.
 
In addition to his interest in legal scholarship, Niel is a keen and active sportsman. He has played basketball to a professional level, and he currently coaches the University’s very successful men’s basketball team.
