Adam Longyear

Adam is a registered dietitian and qualified tertiary & higher education teacher with clinical experience across both acute and community settings and teaching experience across several universities. He has special interests in complex malnutrition and clinical reasoning, including ethical aspects of artificial feeding. He graduated with a first degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from University of Surrey and holds postgraduate qualifications in pedagogy and assessment from University of the Highlands and Islands.

Adam Longyear is an HCPC registered dietitian with experience in a range of clinical settings. Before joining the university, Adam worked on the complex and end of life care wards in a major Manchester hospital. Prior to this, he was one of two dietetic staff managing home enteral tube fed patients across Surrey and Hampshire, with an extended role in inserting nasogastric tubes and managing the complications of gastrostomy and jejunostomy tubes.

He completed his core training at University Hospitals Sussex involving double rotations in acute care, diabetes, paediatrics, community, and bariatric surgery. Adam is currently extending his PgCert Clinical Pedagogy to a master of education (MEd).

In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, Adam also trains NHS placement partners on both the SAS (supervisor assessment skills) and ACE (advanced clinical education) study days for the North West region.
