Jo Lowndes

I have had many years’ experience working as a staff nurse and team leader in forensic services. I have also worked as a senior trainer in the NHS developing and delivering mandatory courses such as Care Co-ordination, Risk Assessment and Adult Safeguarding. After leaving the NHS I spent seven years working for Local Authority managing all required Mental Health training and also AMHP training. A major aspect of my role within Local Authority was to embed service user and carer involvement throughout all services.

I joined the University of Chester at the start of 2014 after finishing my master's degree.

I  teach field specific sessions on numerous Pre Reg and Post Reg modules.

I am a Mental Health First Aid facilitator.

I am also Departmental Lead for Safeguarding issues.

My research interests include Service User involvement, Safeguarding Adults, Forensic Nursing and Wellness Recovery Action Planning.

I have worked in partnership with NMS and Welsh Government to develop numerous training packages for post-qualification staff.
