I have spent 22 years in the private sector working with all grades of staff within private nursing homes and hospitals. I worked extensively with NVQs and Apprenticeships as well as designing training programmes for staff. I have a great interest in dementia and have undertaken research within this area.

I joined the University in 2015 and have been the programme lead for the Nursing Associate programme since the original pilot commenced in 2017. I led the validation for the FdSc with the NMC in 2019.

I am the Programme Leader for FdSc Nursing Associate.

As well as being the programme leader I also lead on modules within the programme. These include study skills, leadership and evidence based practice.

The programme was awarded the University of Chester Best Programme Team award.

My research interests include dementia, elderly care and the socialization of nursing associates within the current healthcare arena.

I am currently undertaking my Professional Doctorate, conducting a research study within nursing homes.

Recent conference presentations include: The National Nursing Conference (2020); NHS Nursing Associates Engagement & Deployment Conference (2019); NHSI Nursing Forum (2019).
