Mike Bellis | University of Chester

After registering as a qualified nurse in 1991 at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital in Wrexham, North Wales, I continued to study and achieved my Diploma, Degree and Masters Degree by 2006. I have worked in urology, surgery, occupational health and higher education, and have undertaken a variety of clinical and academic roles such as Staff Nurse (varying grades), Nurse Practitioner, Lecturer Practitioner, Senior Lecturer and Technology Enhanced Learning Co-ordinator.

I worked in the Wrexham Maelor Hospital from 1987 – 2005, Glyndwr University from 2005-2013 and came to the University of Chester in December 2013.

I contribute towards the M.Ed in Professional Education and contribute towards some of the skills modules in the Pre-Registration Nursing programme

I am the Module co-ordinator and Leader for NM4202 Learning to be a Professional and NM6125 Urology and Continence.

I have recently finished an external examiner position at Oxford Brookes University and am now an external Examiner for the University of Derby.

I have also acted as external panel expert for external university validation events, in both the United Kingdom and worldwide.

I have engaged in research in relation to the role of Lecturer Practitioners and Technology Enhanced Learning, and aim to commence Doctoral level study in this area too.
