Sophie Black | University of Chester

I qualified as a midwife in 2007 and have worked in a range of settings within midwifery.

During my career I have worked as a midwife, senior practice development midwife and lecturer in other Higher Education Institutes. I have worked hard to continually develop my skills and experience by looking for opportunities and challenges.

My interest’s include; complex care, simulation using the inter-professional team and preceptorship for newly qualified midwives. I also have training in human factors and hypnobirthing.

I am the module leader for a variety of modules on the BSc (Hons) Midwifery programme. I also contribute to and teach across other modules on postgraduate programmes in the Faculty of Health and Social Care.

My other roles include; cohort leader, module leader, personal academic tutor to a named group of students and academic link practitioner to Wirral University Teaching Hospital. I am deputy programme lead for the BSc (Hons) Midwifery programme.

I would really like to start a doctorate and I aim to apply for a PhD in the near future.
