Sue Roberts

I qualified in 2008 and began my career as a midwife in North Wales. I achieved an MSC in Professional Education in 2015, whilst continuing to practice clinically and have worked in midwifery led units for the majority of my career.

I have previously taught midwifery at Bangor University and during my time there, I took my teaching skills to Lesotho, as part of a team who helped to update the skills of the midwives in the remote medical centres.

Since then I have had time back in practice, part of that as deputy ward manager and I was also part of the team that introduced PROMPT training into practice in 2017.  I finally settled back into teaching at the beginning of 2020 here in Chester and bring with me a wide and varied experience of teaching at both undergraduate and post graduate level.

  • I am currently programme lead on the MSc in Maternal and Women’s Reproductive Health.
  • I contribute to the BSc in midwifery programme and also the physicians associate programme where I have carried out several teaching sessions based on maternal health and intrapartum care.
  • I am currently module lead on some L4, L5, L6 and L7 midwifery modules.
  • I have experience of L6 and L7 supervision, both in my current role and also in my previous teaching role.

I am interested in researching education, mainly from the student’s perspective.

For my MSc I conducted a study to establish the student’s interpretation and effectiveness of EBL (Evidence based learning) in my previous teaching role. (Unpublished).
