Dr David Acquaye

David’s teaching career spans over a period of 18 years. Ten of these have been in the Higher Education (HE) sector. He has really enjoyed teaching over this period of time because he has always viewed it as a privilege to have an opportunity to make a contribution to the learners’ career development.

Before joining University of Chester in September, 2015, David taught on programmes run by Cardiff Metropolitan University and Anglia Ruskin University through the London School of Commerce. He taught on both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. His main modules over these years of teaching at the HE level have been Corporate Finance (Levels 6 & 7); Financial Analysis Management (Level 7); Case Study Analysis (Level 7); Quantitative Methods in Finance (Level 4) and Managerial Accounting (Levels 4&5). He has also developed special expertise in the supervision of dissertation and business development proposals.

His teaching methods are based on realist pedagogical philosophy which has earned him prestigious awards such as Professional Mentor of the Year, 2018 (1839 Awards - University of Chester) ‘Excellence in Teaching’-Above And Beyond 2016 awards (University of Chester) and Outstanding Teacher Fellowship Award, 2012 (Cardiff Metropolitan University). Outside the classroom, David has actively engaged in the activities of Quality Assurance and Enhancement (QAE) and Learning, Teaching and Assessment (LTA) Boards. Until his appointment as Head of Department, he was the Deputy Head for the Business and Finance Department. In this position he championed policies geared towards the enhancement of student experience within the University of Chester and these are evidenced in his awards over the years.
