Join our in-person or online events, exploring a wide range of topics, academic writing, past papers, careers, and more. Events are listed by subject below along with links to complete a booking form.

Students or groups can book as many of the events as they wish.

Some events are aimed specifically at Year 13 to prepare for Summer 2024 examinations, others are available to Year 12 to support study and enjoyment of the subject.

We particularly encourage applications from students in the following, most under-represented groups with regard to progression to higher education:

  • In-person events will take place on our Exton Park site in Chester.
  • Online events will take place as Microsoft Teams meetings.
  • The content of the online sessions will be the same as in person.
  • You can request places on more than one subject – each has a separate form.
  • You can request places individually or as a group, however, all participants will be required to provide their information to confirm their place.
  • In-person events have a limited capacity – completing the linked forms below does not guarantee a ticket. We may need to operate a waiting list if over-subscribed.

Criminology

This in-person event for Year 13 students focuses on the WJEC Level 3 Applied Certificate and Diploma in Criminology.

The University of Chester's criminology department is extending an invitation to students for a one-day course that focuses on the WJEC Level 3 Applied Certificate & Diploma in Criminology. This course is designed to enhance students' knowledge and confidence by covering various units, including:

Unit. 1: Changing Awareness of Crime

Unit. 2: Criminological Theories

Unit. 3: Crime Scene to Courtroom

Unit. 4: Crime & Punishment

Psychology

We are offering Year 12 Taster Days in Psychology on the above dates. Each day will cover the same content and will be offered in person. We aim to inspire the next generation of Psychologists while supporting the study of A-level Psychology.

Bookings are not currently open for these days, but if you are interested in bringing a group of students and wish to be notified when bookings are open, then please complete this form to register your interest.

Law

One of our Law academics (also an A-level examiner) is available to travel to schools in our regions to deliver bespoke sessions to meet the needs of groups of A-level Law students. Sessions might include revision on specific topics, tips, and hints for approaching examination questions, preparing resources, and studying law at university.

Teachers/tutors are encouraged to request further information or specific sessions by completing this Law A level Bespoke Session Request form.

Science linked to Medical Sciences

One of the academics in our Medical School is available to deliver bespoke sessions on a range of science topics as listed below. Sessions might include revision talks, introduction to Medical Science, and Practical demonstrations (on-site only).

Sessions can be delivered on one of our university sites or in school, depending on the request.

  • Practical sessions around medical science and health and disease
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • General & alternative pathways to medical careers
