Aim of the course

The course aims to cover the skills necessary to enable you to carry out Access Arrangements, including:

  • Educational test administration for access arrangements
  • Introduction to testing
  • Administering and scoring tests correctly and accurately
  • Maintaining security and confidentiality of the test materials and test data
  • JCQ regulations and how to use them

The statistical principles of testing:

  • How tests are created and standardised
  • Test theory and reliability – do they always test the same thing?
  • Validity – do they test what they claim they do?

Assessment and application:

  • Choosing tests that meet your needs and are fit for purpose
  • Interpreting test data to support access arrangements and reasonable adjustments
  • Access Arrangements online – how to input the data

You will leave with

The knowledge and skills to carry out Access Arrangements. This qualification meets the new JCQ requirements and is at Level 7.

Suitable for

Specialist teachers, tutors, learning support assistants who need to be able to carry out access arrangements working in:

  • Primary and secondary schools,
  • FE settings
  • Private schools and colleges
  • Special schools

Delivery Dates - 2023/24:

The course runs twice per year; starting in September and January (subject to viable student numbers).

Students attend the four Fridays within their chosen block.

  • Induction: Saturday 23rd September 2023 9:30 – 3pm. 

  • AM session in person - PM session online. Attendance only required for one session
