* Students from the UK, Isle of Man, Guernsey, Jersey and the Republic of Ireland are treated as Home students for tuition fee purposes.
**The University may increase these fees at the start of each subsequent year of your course in line with inflation at that time, as measured by the Retail Price Index. These fee levels and increases are subject to any necessary government, and other regulatory, approvals.

Understanding your Student Loan
EU Students
Students from countries in the European Economic Area and the EU that started in or after the 2021-22 academic year will pay International Tuition Fees.
Students who have been granted Settled Status may be eligible for Home Fee Status and if eligible will be able to apply for Tuition Fee Loans and Maintenance Loans.
Students who have been granted Pre-settled Status may be eligible for Home Fee Status and if eligible will be able to apply for Tuition Fee Loans.
Irish Nationals living in the UK or Republic of Ireland are treated as Home students for Tuition Fee Purposes.
Part-time Study
You may be eligible for a Tuition Fee Loan for part-time study by Student Finance. However, if you live outside England, there can be subtle differences in the way student finance is governed. Further details can be found on student finance websites relevant to your country of residence.
If you are not eligible, you would need to pay for the modules yourself. At the University of Chester, this can be paid monthly from November until July. There is no deadline in the year for module submissions to be submitted. However, our Finance team advise you to choose your module choices early because if you choose to add a module outside of November - July you would be expected to pay for the module straight away.
If you are interested in studying an undergraduate degree part time, you will have six years to complete the course. This provides you with two years to complete the modules required for each year of study. The minimum amount you can study in one year is 20 credits per year and the maximum is 100 credits.
If you are interested in studying a Foundation Degree part-time, you will have five years to complete the course. The minimum amount you can study in one year is 20 credits per year and the maximum is 100 credits.
Graduate Entry Medicine
Graduate Entry Medicine students apply for Undergraduate finance as they can receive the standard package of support including Tuition and Maintenance support.
The regulations provide that eligible students can apply for a tuition loan of up to £5,785 for the first academic year of their course and £5,535 in all other years of the course. Graduate Entry Medicine students are however still required to self-fund the first £3,465 of the tuition charged in their first year. In years two to four of the course, the first £3,715 is paid as part of the income-assessed NHS Bursary.
In year 1 students can apply for a means-tested maintenance loan and supplementary grants from Student Finance England and from year 2 to 4 of the course, as these students can apply for means-tested NHS bursaries, they become eligible for the RRML.
International Fees
The tuition fees for international students studying undergraduate courses in the 2024-25 academic year are £13,450. This fee is frozen for the duration of the degree. All undergraduate students are eligible for an International Scholarship Award, which is applicable to each year of study.
Current students
Our full-time undergraduate tuition fees for UK/IE students entering University in 2023-24 are £9,250 a year, or £1,540 per module for part-time study. The University may increase these fees at the start of each subsequent year of your course in line with inflation at that time, as measured by increases in the Retail Price Index. These fee levels and increases are subject to any necessary government and other regulatory approvals. The tuition fees for international students studying undergraduate courses in the 2023-24 academic year are £12,950.
