Work Based Learning for Students

Employability module including five-week placement (April-May)

Graduates with experience of working in their chosen field have a much higher chance of success in the job market once they leave University. The Work Based Learning module gives you the chance to gain this experience through a five-week placement during the second year of your undergraduate studies.

The module also includes assignments designed to encourage reflection and critical thinking around your experiences, your employability, and the next steps you need to take towards a career in the sector you want to work in.

With the support of our dedicated Work Based Learning team, previous students have secured placements with thousands of providers across the UK, and many of them go on to gain employment in these organisations. The module also gives you the opportunity to:

• Put theory into practice within a real-world setting in an industry sector of interest
• Develop your skills and knowledge, both specialist and transferable, enhancing your employability
• Build your networks by connecting and working with professionals in industry
• Develop commercial awareness
• Use planning tools and guidance to build your own personal and professional development plan
